Item upgrades are a way to increase the stats of an item. Depending on the type of upgrade, it can increase an item's Rarity or Mark Level, and also boost other stats.

Item Level

Item level is a widely used measurement of power and can be found on all tooltips for items. It can also be used to limit how much PvP gear players can wear as PvP is restricted at lower levels. The average level of an item can be found on the character sheet.

When deciding whether to buy or sell equipment players can look at the levels of the item. It's a useful indicator of the quality of an item and the amount of damage it is able to deal. The level of an item can be used to compare items when examining a vendor's inventory.

The item level can be checked by pressing the ALT key on your PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will display the complete item description, including its ilvl. You can also find it by hovering over an item and typing in /itemlevel chat.

There are various theories on how the calculation of an item's level is done. One theory is that the item level is a number that comes from a formula which calculates the value of an item's stats are worth. It considers the fact that various perks have different value and that sockets have gems that increase the overall value of the item. This can lead to an item's ilvl which is calculated and is usually very close to Blizzard's real level of the item.

Item Stats

The stats of an item can be the difference between a good or bad item for players. This procedure will cost the player a specific amount of gold and items which can be added to the upgrade gauge in the same manner as other options for rerolling.

In addition to Rerolling affixes and rerolls, players can also choose which stats to keep on an item after it is upgraded. The range of stats is determined by the item's level. However every item will include at least one stat in the same range, unless it's a unique item or an item that has a God Roll from a raid boss.

This is another thing that could be altered by introducing an option to upgrade the equipment without having to reroll the affixes, or selecting which stats to increase. Like the base equipment, this would have to be done per item and the item upgrading comparison interface would not display all the possible stats simultaneously.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player boosts the chance of finding items, the properties that are generated by loot, and the strength of these properties. However, it does not directly impact damage or the ability to upgrade items. It gives the player the chance to upgrade their gear earlier in the game. This is more beneficial in early game runs since players tend to prioritize the scaling of weapons and defenses over raw damage gains.

In addition to influencing item discovery, Luck also increases the probability of being successful when upgrading items using the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade chance that increases with each level and can be further enhanced by using an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

Weapons, armor, and shields can spawn or be crafted using the Luck property, with an initial value of 40. These items can be augmented with golden ingots or spined leather (depending on the type of material) to increase the value of 40 luck or to boost the Luck of an item upgrade item; Read Google, up to 140.

Certain items, such as the weapon that is infused with hollow can also be outfitted to increase the damage dealt by any ability that is able to deal damage by 5percent. These items can be bought in the shop or constructed using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades work. Cash shop items can be used to boost the success rate of an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their item in the event that it fails.

The success rate of an upgrade is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage is the probability of successful upgrading an item. This can be increased by using Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limitations on how much success rates can be increased and the probability of an upgrade failing cannot exceed 100%..

The success of an upgrades is also influenced by the Luck of that item. All items have a success rate of 25 percent, and every item with Luck increases the chance of success by 5%.

It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the items in the inventory, so enchantment glint and other effects could be obstructed by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
